Ahron Herring

Ahron is the Chief Investment Officer at Yeshiva University in New York, NY, where he oversees $750 million in endowed and other long-term investments. He was born in Johannesburg, South Africa to Canadian and South African parents, and immigrated to South Florida at the age of six, where he attended the local Jewish community day school. Alas, his cherished South African accent did not survive the move. In his mid-teens, he matriculated at Yeshiva University in New York City, an environment that continued to nurture his love of Judaism and the natural sciences. After completing his bachelor’s degrees in Math/Physics and Computer Science, he joined Merrill Lynch’s institutional sales group. He subsequently attended graduate school at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in Cambridge, MA, where he discovered the world of university endowment investing during an internship between an MBA at MIT/Sloan and a Master’s of Real Estate Development at MIT/CRE. Remaining at MIT for close to a decade after graduation, he served in a number of roles at MITIMCo, the investment management company of MIT, before returning to New York City, and his undergraduate alma mater, in 2012, where he established an institutional-caliber investment office and reinvigorated the management of the endowment.
