Maya Avitan, from USA to Israel

I'm Maya Avitan, now living in sunny Tel Aviv. A lifelong Zionist, I made Aliyah to Israel in 2013 from NYC - the most challenging, brave, and fulfilling decision of my life. Originally from Cleveland, I grew up in a loving, close-knit, religious family. My father was born in Morocco, grew up in Israel, and moved to the U.S. as an adult. My mother is the daughter of Hungarian Holocaust survivors who, despite losing everything, immigrated to Cleveland and rebuilt a beautiful life focused on Judaism and family.

I work as Director of Marketing for a thriving tech startup, and make sure to enjoy all that Tel Aviv has to offer - soaking up beach sunsets, amazing Pilates classes, stimulating tech events, and the most delicious kosher restaurants. I love JIC and all that Jodi and Gavin have created, and I enjoy meeting like-minded people from around the world. You'll often see me volunteering at JIC events, welcoming guests with my warm smile.
