Fabia Preminger
I am from a European Zionistic family. I was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil and grew up in Rio de Janeiro. I am warm and genuine, cosmopolitan yet domestic! I went to a seminary in Jerusalem, than decided to stay in Israel where I earned a BA and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Hebrew University in Jerusalem and worked at Alyn Rehab Hospital for Children and Adolescents, also in Jerusalem, as a director in the Assistive Technology Center. I have lectured in conferences worldwide, published articles in Israeli and American Occupational Therapy journals, founded several centers throughout Israel. I have been very active in the Jewish community, both in Jerusalem and in NY, in several capacities. I’ve been living in New York City for the past 7+ years. As I have no family in the area, JICNY have definitely been a place where I feel comfortable with others in similar situation, enjoy the classes and events and am in awe of the JICNY reach out to so many. I was among the honorees at the 1st JICNY annual dinner, some 5 years ago! I am involved in outreach and adult Jewish education and conversion classes in Manhattan area. Among other classes, I taught Hebrew reading and challah baking classes at JICNY. I am constantly involved and initiating chesed and tzedaka projects, speaking of which, next week I’ll be featured as an honoree at Migdal Ohr's annual shabbat and annual gala dinner.
