Jacob Kimchy
I am the Co-Founder of One Heart Global, a non-profit organization based in
New York City dedicated to helping victims of terror across the globe. I
began One Heart in 2006 in memory of my father, Rami Kimchy, who was killed
on May 7, 2002 in a terrorist attack in Rishon Letzion. My father was
waiting outside of the Sheffield Club at 11 pm that evening in his taxi.
When his customer did not arrive, he went in to see what was keeping him.
At the same time, a 20 year old terrorist entered the club, killing 15
people, including my father, and injuring another 85. That night, I was
having a late dinner when he received a call about the attack. I went
directly to the scene to assist the survivors, and saw my father's car
outside of the club. At that moment, I knew that my father was there and I
would not see him again.
After the attack, and after trying to recover from the trauma, I wanted to
find a way to help other victims of terror around the world, which led to
the founding of One Heart. Over the past eight years, I have worked and
consulted with numerous organizations assisting victims of terrorism in
different countries. . I have met with various political figures including
the Royal Family of Spain and addressed audiences in the United States,
Europe and Israel discussing my personal experiences with terrorism and the
ongoing situation in Israel and the Middle East.
I served in the Israeli Army and received my Masters of Science in
Management from Poly - NYU. I was born in Rishon Letzion, Israel.
A friend introduced me to JICNY, about 2 years ago. He thought it would be
a good place for me to feel a bit more at home. He was right. I have met
many interesting people threw JICNY that I am now friends with and have
found amazing hosts for Shabbat dinners and holidays as well
