Alessandra was born and raised in Venice and studied at the Universities of Venice and Trieste. Her career started at the Jewish Museum of Venice and later brought her to the Center for Jewish History in New York. But since a very young age, her passion has always been food (she is said to have feasted on garlic and chili-marinated herring at 15 months). Dr. Evelyn M. Cohen is an art historian who specializes in illuminated Hebrew manuscripts. A former Samuel H. Kress Fellow, and Coleman Fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, she has served on the faculty of Columbia University, Brooklyn College, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Jewish Theological Seminary, where she was also the first Curator of Jewish Art. A widely published author, she has received the National Jewish Book Award for her writings.
