Join us for a NYC Community "Shlissel" Challah Bake - all welcome!
This is the 1st Challah make after Passover & a Merit for Parnassah. "Shlissel" is Yiddish for "KEY" (trans: the KEY to a good Livelihood). We place a key inside the challah - some have a custom of making a key shaped-challah.
We will learn how to make challah super easy and fun; share the significance of each ingredient, a real spiritual experience. Plus this is the first challah made after Passover. There is a thought that we want to open the doors to the blessings provided by Hashem after being let out of Egypt - Hence, the key...
This is an interactive, hands-on challah making class (there is no baking taking place on-site).
You will take home4-5 lbs of raw challah dough. No baking experience necessary..
