JICNY is known for bringing Jews from various backgrounds together; it is a home away from home. Over the past few months, I have learned a lot about my background and religion. I come from a Sephardic family that immigrated to the United States from Uzbekistan in 1996. After immigrating my family encouraged my siblings and I to get the best education possible. After a long journey I became a Doctor of Physical Therapy and now started my new homecare practice. I grew up in a traditional Jewish home. My family has a festive dinner every Shabbat and celebrates holidays. JICNY has become a big part of my life. I have met many people and made many friends. The JICNY family (Steve, Jodi and Gavin) has allowed me to learn Torah and helped me become more observant. With the help of JICNY, I am developing into a contemporary Jewish woman with religion as my guide.
