DANA AND SASI EYLA-2015 GALA HONOREE "YOUNG LEADERSHIP AWARD"
Dana and Sasi Elya are one of JICNY's success stories. They met in 2013 at a Purim party in Jodi and Gavin's apartment and were married in January 2014.
Dana grew up in a traditional Jewish home on Long Island and always enjoyed celebrating the holidays. This connection to her Judaism, and wanting to be involved in a Jewish community after moving out of NYC, lead her to the JICNY. Dana, who works as a Registered Dietitian, has been a regular volunteer for JICNY and a member of their Emerging Leaders Board. Whether setting up events, working on the gala, planning couples events or brainstorming ways to continuously improve the JICNY Dana always make time for JICNY.
Sasi grew up in a Moshav in the Galil in Northern Israel, served 6 years as an officer in the IDF, and in 2002 came to New York and fell in love with the energy and excitement of the city. Through friends Sasi found out about the JICNY and found it to be a place where he can connect with other Israelis and create a community of international friends. Sasi would come to many JICNY holiday parties, events, and Shabbat dinners through which he has met many people and now expanded his involvement in the Jewish community by becoming involved in AIPAC and their Real Estate Division as Commercial Real Estate Broker.
Dana and Sasi continue their involvement and support in the JICNY and even recently had the privilege to attend a JICNY event in Jerusalem with Dana's parents and brother. They are honored to be part of a group of individuals receiving an award from JICNY for giving back to the Jewish community.
