“I was born into the immigrant Jewish community in Toronto, Canada in the seventies, and I consider myself to have had the “best of all worlds”. We were exposed to so many different languages, European, American and Asian culture, and of course, loads of crazy Jews! I consider my grandparents, who were Holocaust survivors, to be my earliest role models. They were tough as nails, but so funny. Most of the time, without actually trying. After having attended Yeshiva and a prestigious High School, I left Toronto to attend New York University and The Stella Adler Conservatory to pursue my “acting dreams”. There, I met my husband, Laurent Hasson, a fellow foreign student from France. After graduation I launched a career in stand-up and sketch comedy, and I have appeared in numerous commercials, music videos and comedy reviews. I also took time out to have three sons, whom I consider to be my greatest achievements. I was introduced to the JICNY through a friend who knew Jodi; and I am continually amazed by her energy and tireless enthusiasm for EVERYTHING! It’s nice not to feel like the only fuzzy foreigner, “there is another” as Master Yoda says. After a brief but successful stint as a Real Estate Broker, I decided to return to the stage, and started a walking tour company called ‘I Love New York Shopping Tours”. It’s mostly shopping, but we also take people to what we consider landmark institutions. It’s history, architecture, shopping, and food with a healthy dose of Torah wisdom thrown in. It’s more like performance art than a standard tour. I do hope to continue in this vein, and I am encouraging my children to take advantage of all this marvelous city has to offer!
