The Art of Fermenting Cabbage- Making Sauerkraut and its Jewish History

For Young Professionals ages 25-45

Sunday, November 17th at a private UWS apt (exact address provided when you register)

Participants will have a choice of making a variety of styles of sauerkraut including classic sauerkraut, Bavarian, ginger carrot, garlic and seriously spicy sauerkraut. 

Class will include discussion of:

The history of fermentation and sauerkraut's place in Jewish history.

Kashrut protocol for checking cabbage.

Important food safety considerations.

A sampling of sauerkraut in various stages of fermentation.

A primer on pickling different vegetables, from asparagus to zucchini.

What gadgets you do and don't need.
