Rachel Tenenbaum

I grew up in New Jersey, the first generation born to an Israeli mother and Italian-born father, and attended Solomon Schechter for most of my schooling. My father’s parents were Holocaust survivors from Poland and taken to a refugee camp at the Pope’s summer residence, where my father was born. My mother’s parents were from Romania, my grandmother having jumped off a train to her survival and my grandfather recruited to the British army due to his many languages. Growing up, many languages were always spoken in my family and we were regularly reminded of the rich Jewish world we were a part of. I spent a few memorable summers in Israel and participated in many study abroad programs connecting me with the global Jewish community. I am now the Sales Manager of North America for ARZA World and Da’at Educational Expeditions, a full service tour operator with a holistic and educational approach to Jewish Heritage travel. I am fortunate to be part of a team that brings enriched, cultural and educational Jewish Heritage experiences to Jews around the country, connecting communities globally. I also recently started a women’s group on facebook called Sassy Sisters, a platform for women from ALL over the world to connect, learn, support, and inspire each other. I am happy newlywed to an Israeli born Turkish man who I met on Tu B’Av. We now live on the Upper West Side, right in Jodi and Gavin’s building! JICNY is an integral part of our personal life as it is an outlet for us to connect with likeminded Jews from all over the world!
