Sivan Hadari, 2013 Gala Honoree

At this year’s JICNY 9th Annual Gala Sivan Hadari was presented with the JICNY 2013 Young Leadership Award! Sivan is an Israeli-American actress, singer, publicist, producer and writer. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Israel; Sivan comes from a multi-layered Jewish and Israeli cultural background with a mother from Tunisia who fled the country at the age of 5 and a father with a Persian background. Sivan made Aliya at the age of 12 with her family and travels to and from NY to Tel Aviv.

In 2009 she founded the non-profit organization, ISRAMERICA, with the mission of supporting young Israeli and Jewish American artists that project a positive image of Israel though art. Her one woman show, The Emancipation of the Sassy Jewish Woman won the award for Best Solo Debut off-Broadway, and her original play "1,934 Days", based on the story of then captive Israel soldier Gilat Shalit was presented a the Times Square International Theatre Festival last year – just to name a few of her accomplishments.

JICNY Newsletter

Letter from the Founders

WELCOME friends, to the JICNY newsletter.

Thank you to everyone who attended our 9th Annual Gala! This was one of the most successful Galas ever for JICNY as we hosted over 400 attendees representing more than 40 countries from around the world!

We had a truly amazing time celebrating another year of community with you. This year we were able to reach a younger audience and feel grateful for the financial support we received from all of our donors.

This year's Gala was held at Highline Ballroom and the theme was an International Music Festival. Thanks to honorees Sivan Hadari (Young Leadership Award) and Berel Fischler (Dedication to Jewish Life Award) who received their beautiful plaques in honor of their outstanding service to the Jewish community.

We had some wonderful music by Sam Bodenheimer, Jay Stone and the band Songs in The Attic which featured the music of Billy Joel. And an amazing spread was enjoyed by all thanks to Prestige Catering. Another big thank you to our honorees Feliks Frenkel and Lev Gzhonko who were awarded the Tower of Light Awards. We sincerely hope you had as much fun as we did!
