I grew up in Rockville Centre, New York in a traditional Jewish home. In 2002, I decided to learn more about Judaism and moved to the Upper West Side to immerse myself in Jewish culture. During my time living in the city I tried different shuls, took classes, and attended Shabbat dinners. Although I was very active in the community, and lived across the street from Jodi and Gavin, it wasn't until I left the Upper West Side that I first heard about the JICNY. After moving to Great Neck, NY and talking to friends about how to find ways to stay connected to the Jewish community in the City I heard about JICNY. I was invited to help out with the 2010 gala and I've been volunteering ever since. I've helped put together goody bags for galas, made phone calls to help fundraise and assisted with setting up and checking in people for JICNY events. I find that volunteering at JICNY events is almost as much fun as attending them. JICNY continues to be a place where I can stay connected to the Jewish community
